Brescia vs. Juventus: Player Ratings
Juventus FC defeated Brescia Calcio 2-1 with the help of an own goal and a winner from Miralem Pjanic. The victory saw Juve go top of the league temporarily ahead of Inter’s match against Lazio. Other featured players included Paolo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain. Danilo had to leave the field with an injury and was replaced by Juan Cuadrado.
– 8 and above: Excellent
– 6: Meets expectations
– Below 5: Pretty bad
Juventus continued its good run of results with a 2-1 win over Brescia. Despite dominating possession, Juve had to struggle to come from behind. The victory showed the team’s character, resolve, and concentration.
Over the course of the match,, Juve overcame a host of challenges. The first was the narrow formation used by Brescia, which saw Juve often get stuck in a jampacked central area. While Juve did have many chances, oftentimes there were lots of bodies behind the ball or defenders attacking the ball which made conversion difficult. The injury to Danilo also forces Maurizio Sarri’s hand a little, while the team also dealt with new/newer players being introduced into the squad. It was not a compelling victory that many Juventini have been craving, but given the extent of rotation, this seems like a reasonable result.
Tek (5): Made one costly error but was solid otherwise. Over the long term, going back to the beginning of last year, his form has been exceptional and this must be kept in mind as we seek to judge his place in the squad (for those of us judging!).
Danilo (5.5): Not much to note before his injury with the exception of a few below average passes and crosses. Still needs to find his feet and integrate into the team.
Cuadrado (6.5): Took advantage of his substitute appearance with some good crosses and defensive play. Continues to justify his selection.
Bonucci (7.5): Another excellent performance in defense; almost flawless
De Ligt (6.5): Handled most of his duties without trouble
Sandro (7): Has been perhaps Juve’s most consistent player this season. Yet another positive display.
Rabiot (5.5): A gingerly start from the Frenchman, but a start nevertheless! Things can hopefully only go up from here.
Pjanic (7): Took his goal well and made over 100 passes. Seems to be settling into his new role.
Khedira (6.5): Decent performance and seemed to really care about the match judging from some of the altercations today
Ramsey (7): Another exciting performance with good interlinking, only foiled by a crowded central area and penalty box. Lots of energy and drive that’s much needed in the midfield.
Bernadeschi (6.5): An improved performance but still left a little to be desired
Higuain (5.5): Frustrating day at the office for Higuain and perhaps it showed in his temper
Dybala (7): Another strong performance – kept the ball well in particular
Matuidi (6): A typical Matuidi performance. Broke play well.
